The Kelsey Group Grants 2003 New Technologies Leadership Award to Switchboard's Mark Canon
The award was presented during a ceremony at this week's Digital Directories & Interactive Local Media Summit in Alexandria, Virginia.
Alexandria, VA (October 23, 2003) – The Kelsey Group announced today that the recipient of this year's New Technologies Leadership Award is Mark Canon, vice president, business development for Switchboard Incorporated (Nasdaq: SWBD). In a ceremony yesterday during the first day of The Kelsey Group's Digital Directories & Interactive Local Media Summit (DD&ILM), taking place in Alexandria, VA, Canon was recognized by Kelsey Group President and CEO John F. Kelsey III as a key architect of the future of the Yellow Pages industry.
"In the rough and tumble Internet Yellow Pages and directories market, Mark has been instrumental in keeping Switchboard at the forefront of the industry, while also generously sharing his expertise through his work on several trade association committees," said Kelsey.
Canon began his career in the directory business in 1991 at Banyan Systems where he was involved in the design of information products. It is this work that got him involved in the development of the Switchboard directory product set. Since 1995 he has been a driving force in the online Yellow Pages industry.
The Kelsey Group initiated the New Technologies Leadership Award last year, to recognize an individual who has consistently made significant contributions to new technologies and the directory business over time. Last year's award was given to Patrick J. Marshall, group vice president of Verizon Information Services.
