Gerry Campbell
Senior Vice President
AOL Search
Gerry Campbell joined America Online in 2001 and brings with
him more than ten years of experience in Internet search and
online business management.
As Senior Vice President for the AOL Search and Directional
Media Group, Gerry Campbell oversees one of the key business
and product groups within America Online's Web Audience division.
Properties Gerry directly oversees include: AOL Search; AOL
Local Search and Yellow Pages; Netscape Search; and AOL eCommerce
Search products. These properties are also central to the overall
growth and success of the AOL Audience Group, which includes
the free AOL.com Web portal, AIM, MapQuest and other leading
brands and services.
Previously, Gerry served as Vice President and General Manager
of AOL Search, where he oversaw business activities for AOL
Search, including all search-based revenue and advertising initiatives.
Prior to joining AOL, Gerry served as Director of Product Strategy
for AltaVista's commerce group where he was responsible for
product marketing, integration of commerce into Web search and
partner services for the company's CPC shopping engine. Gerry
has also held product marketing and business management positions
with Compaq and CompuServe, as well as co-founded Bounce Networks,
a digital media startup.
Gerry received his MBA as well as his Bachelor of Arts degree
in Mass Media from The Ohio State University.

Eric Chandler
President – Internet Division
Verizon Information Services
Eric Chandler is president – Internet Division for
Verizon Information Services (VIS), the nation’s most
advanced provider of yellow pages and shopping information.
VIS’ products include Verizon Yellow Pages, SuperPages.com
and SuperPages On the Go.
Chandler leads the rollout of advanced Internet/Web products
and pay for performance advertising solutions, ensuring the
continued evolution of SuperPages.com as an easy-to-use and
effective Internet medium for linking buyers and advertisers.
Previously, Chandler served as executive director –
E-commerce Marketing, where he managed SuperPages.com products
and the user experience. Prior to that he served as director
– Innovation and Development, overseeing all new product
improvements associated with Verizon Information Services’
Internet and wireless applications.
He began his Verizon career in 1989, advancing through positions
of increasing responsibility in the Marketing and Distribution
areas. Chandler holds a master’s degree in business
administration from Southern Methodist University, a financial
planning certificate from the University of California –
Irvine and a bachelor of science degree in electrical and
computer engineering from Ohio State University.

My principal gig these days is the Center
for Citizen Media, a joint project with Harvard University's
Berkman Center for
Internet & Society and the University of California-Berkeley
Graduate School of
Journalism.
I also write articles and have published a book called We
the Media: Grassroots Journalism by the People, for the People
(2004; O'Reilly Media), and am working on a new book about
media in the digital age. The paperback version of We
the Media will be released in January 2006.
In 2005 worked on citizen media through Grassroots Media
Inc. From 1994-2005 I was a columnist at the San
Jose Mercury News, Silicon Valley's daily newspaper, and
wrote a weblog for SiliconValley.com.
I joined the Mercury News after six years with the Detroit
Free Press. Before that, I was with the Kansas
City Times and several newspapers in Vermont.
During the 1986-87 academic year I was a journalism fellow
at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where I studied
history, political theory and economics.
Before becoming a journalist I played music professionally
for seven years.
