Opening Keynote Address: Jon
Brod, Executive VP, AOL Ventures |
|
| |
|
The “new” AOL is going big in two directions: verticals and local. Executive VP Jon Brod runs both, overseeing the development of hundreds of hyperlocal Patch.com Web sites in 2010; the transformation of MapQuest; and one of the most ambitious groups of verticals on the Web. The new AOL is under a microscope as it maneuvers to regain its relevancy and importance in the marketplaces arena. Brod will share his view on where the new AOL is heading and how it plans to get there.

Google @ Marketplaces
2010
Sam Sebastian,
Director, Local & B2B Markets, Google
|
|
| |
|
Google is deep into the vertical revolution. It is no mystery. Searches get more specific (and valuable) as they move up the food chain, instant verticals are created, and e-commerce looms. Sam Sebastian, a longtime leader in the vertical space with Classified Ventures, drives Google’s role in marketplaces. With Sebastian at the helm, Google is certain to stake its claim to a meaningful position in the vertical space. What space will that be and how Google plans to get there should make for a lively and informative session.
Moderator: Peter Krasilovsky, VP and Program Director, Marketplaces, BIA/Kelsey

Vertical Ad Networks Revisited |
|
| |
|
In 2008 vertical ad network Adify was acquired by long-standing traditional media player Cox Media. With AutoTrader already a runaway success, Cox must know something about vertical ad networks. That said, why go horizontal, when you can go vertical and target users in the context of their interests and what they are looking for? Vertical ad networks have made major inroads into the traditional ad business. And they’re moving into green fields, such as hyperlocal and brand marketing.
Jaan Janes, CEO, Pulse 360
Joelle Gropper Kaufman, Senior VP, Marketing, Adify
Warren Kay, VP, Fox Audience Network
Moderator: Matt Booth, Senior Vice President and Program Director, Interactive Local Media
