The Kelsey Group’s ILM:04 Conference to Focus on Opportunities and Outlook for the Interactive Local Media Marketplace

Three-day agenda features more than 60 speakers, including keynotes by Overture’s Ted Meisel, Tribe Networks’ Mark Pincus and Hearst Newspapers’ George Irish.

Princeton, NJ (Sept. 14, 2004) -- The Kelsey Group expects more than 450 executives representing every segment of the online media industry to be in attendance later this fall, when ILM:04, The Kelsey Group’s Interactive Local Media 2004 conference, convenes November 3-5, 2004, at the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson, Jersey City, New Jersey.

The three-day agenda will feature over 60 speakers from the leading and emerging companies in the online media space, with keynote addresses by Ted Meisel, president, Overture, senior vice president, Yahoo! Inc., Mark Pincus, founder and CEO, Tribe Networks, and George Irish, president,
Hearst Newspapers, senior vice president, The Hearst Corporation.

“Consumers are increasingly adopting the Internet to find local information and advertisers recognize that,” said Greg Sterling, program director for The Kelsey Group’s Digital Directories: Interactive Local Media practice, and ILM:04 conference chair. “Yet there’s a good deal of confusion among small businesses about where to put their scarce ad dollars. ILM:04 will explore the practical challenges that online media face in tapping the local opportunity.”

At ILM:04, Kelsey Group analysts will present an updated local search forecast, an overview of product developments and market trends, and findings from the firm’s latest primary research.

The conference will provide a 360 degree view of the local media marketplace, with sessions devoted to local search, Internet Yellow Pages, vertical directories, online classifieds and social networks. Agenda highlights include:

  • P2P, B2C, B2B: Classifieds and Directory Merger
  • Social Networking: A Better Local Online Marketplace?
  • Shopping Search: What’s the Local Angle?
  • Where Do Verticals Fit In?
  • Local Search: The Big Picture

ILM:04 sponsors include Acxiom Corporation, Amacai, Aptas, i411, Fast Search & Transfer, MapQuest Business Solutions, SEMPO, Telcontar, and YPsolutions.
