Making Sense of Census Data
Bobbi Loy-Luster,Neal Polachek , 2/13/2003

Issue: Gleaning Insights from Census Data

News: At The Kelsey Report, we process dozens of inquiries from clients every week, many of which involve the size and nature of the U.S. small-business market. Given that the Yellow Pages industry relies almost exclusively on this market for its success, this is no surprise. Accordingly, we wanted to share some data that illustrates the current state and changing nature of the U.S. small-business market.

The U.S. Census Bureau is currently implementing its 2002 Economic Census, so those data are not yet available. However, we can examine the 2000 and 2001 data and offer some historical perspective. (Specific reports are currently available in the TKR Digital File Drawer.)
