British Telecom Looks at the Lure of a Spin-Off
Daniel Miller,Tom McGuire , 2/25/2000

Issue: How Yellow Pages May Benefit from Independence

News: According to published reports, British Telecom is looking to spin off its wireless and/or Yellow Pages subsidiaries. The purpose is to revitalize its sagging stock price by unlocking the value of high-growth assets like wireless communications and electronic commerce. BT's shares have fallen over the last few months as regulators threaten to accelerate competition for its core telecommunications services. While the company has denied reports of a spin-off, the rumors have sparked renewed interest in BT's stock.
