Issue: Challenges IYPs to Embrace Consumer Ratings

News: In anticipation of a rush of small businesses onto the World Wide Web, a two-year-old company called is jump-starting a marketing program that encourages consumers to rate the local merchants and service providers with whom they do business. In two years, claims to have aggregated more than 720,000 unique ratings from consumers in more than 6,000 cities across the U.S. It also claims that 23 percent of the visitors to its site register as "members" of the service.
