Do Directories Drive Local Online Commerce?

Issue: Interest at LOC Conference Underscores Directory's Importance

News: At The Kelsey Group's Local Online Commerce conference (LOC2000) last week in Boston, attendees remained intensely interested in the role directories and directory publishing organizations play in facilitating wired and wireless buyer-seller interaction at the local level. As we noted in a pre-conference presentation, without directories, very little happens in local commerce - online or offline.

The conference, which attracted more than 600 attendees representing ASPs, vertical portals, newspapers, directory publishers and CMRs, was a beehive of networking and deal-making - much of it surrounding directory and Yellow Pages organizations.
