is launching an initiative to leverage its $4 billion acquisition of Sterling
Commerce, an e-business solutions provider. The core of its strategy is
to provide SBC's three million business customers with a single point
of contact for integrated online infrastructure services.
SBC is leveraging
its expanded hosting capabilities through a new Internet Data Center created
in a joint venture with Cisco Systems and a $100 million investment in
InQuent Inc., parent company of WebHosting.com. These hosting facilities
will support a rollout of ASP and application hosting offerings, including
Microsoft Exchange 2000 and hosted e-commerce applications through the
Sterling Commerce subsidiary.
