Issue: Is There a Case for Mirroring Print Yellow Pages Online?

News:, a Glendale, CA-based company, is capitalizing on the predicament of many independent Yellow Pages publishers. Smaller publishers have either failed to embrace an Internet solution or they have been burned by partnerships that did not deliver the revenues they anticipated. has developed a system that recreates the publishers' print product online, albeit searchable and flexible enough to integrate enhanced services like Web sites, voice over IP, online scheduling and lead-generation tools. The company has signed up two small independent publishers - Desert Bloom Inc. and North County Access - and says it has other publishers in queue.
