Using Print Metaphor Resonate with Some Publishers
News: A number
of companies in the Yellow Pages industry are promoting a vision of online
directories based not on the search engine model that drives most Internet
Yellow Pages (IYPs), but on the more than 100-year-old printed paradigm.
These companies have taken the old replication model and added more technological
pizzazz to create a platform that many smaller print publishers are now
finding to be a good match with their objectives.
Most recently, California-based
InformationPages - an IYP solutions provider promoting this "look-and-feel"
approach - signed up SunshinePages, a respected independent in the New
Orleans area that was acquired last fall by regional carrier Eatel. In
addition to InformationPages, companies such as SynXis and MultiView Inc.
are marketing variations on the look-and-feel model.
